The Multi Select feature is an Index that contains Estimates selected from the Main Index, matching certain criteria.
This is an empty Multi Select Index:
This is one containing Estimates by Engineer, and sorted into Status by dragging the column header into the brown panel

Double clicking will open the highlighted Estimate.

The Multi Select Index will retain the current list until you either quit from the program or choose another Selection (provided Clear Before Load box is ticked)

On the Estimate Header Screen, the Multi Select menu option will show in bold when there is an Index present:
